Knowing the probability rules is key for computing and relating probabilities. These quizzes explore the fundamental rules which are applied throughout the rest of the course:

  • Rule of Sum (for exclusive events): \[P(A\text{ or }B) = P(A) +P(B)\]
  • Rule of Product (for independent events): \[P(A\text{ and }B) = P(A)\cdot P(B)\]
  • Rule of Complement: \[P(\text{not }A) = 1-P(A)\]
  • Principle of Inclusion-Exclusion: \[P(A\text{ or }B) = P(A)+P(B)-P(A\text{ and }B)\]
