Spring Tug of War

We trust that railings on the observation balcony of a high tower are sturdy and inflexible, but in general solids are pliable. Even steel can bend, twist, and stretch like elastic under the right conditions.

When it comes down to it, all matter behaves like springs, which is why physicists and engineers use them in modeling all the time.
