How are the names of problems selected? Is there a difference between how the names of proposed problems and problems created by Brilliant staff are chosen? Are names ever reused? I'm curious about these things, and I think it would be really cool if users could name the problems they submit.

Hi Samir,

To my knowledge the same name has never been used twice. That is part of the reason for having them, so that we can uniquely identify a problem when conversing.. The names of user-contributed and staff written problems are arrived at in a similar fashion. We employ a team of brainy dudes that look at our problems and brainstorms clever names.

When submitting a problem to Brilliant, we encourage you to suggest a pithy name for it. Just write it in the Question box with "Title: _etc..."
