# A world-wide rank finder on Brilliant.

We all are competitive and that's a good thing. Competitiveness can be quite helpful in boosting your productiveness and sharpening your skills. So I just wondered if the brilliant team also introduces a rank finder on brilliant. That would give us an idea of where we stand among thousands of other problem-solvers. This can work in the same way as points exchange and levels. The criteria for finding your rank can be number of problems solved, number of points, level, stars, age, etc.

An awesome idea, Vikram!

The 'levels' system is doing quite a good job of keeping things competitive on Brilliant, but I think making a ranking system for those users on Level 5 would be a good idea, as they probably have hit a 'ceiling' in terms of competitveness (they can't level up anymore!).

Or maybe, the rankings could be done intra-Level, intra-Topic. The problem with that, though, is that when you eventually level up, you'll probably have a pretty low ranking in the next level. · 3 years, 9 months ago

awesome thought · 3 years, 9 months ago

Nice thought , should be applied · 3 years, 9 months ago

great idea.....i support you...... · 3 years, 9 months ago

ya i agree. i am among the earliest users on brilliant and i remember that earlier there was a ranking system. so why have you removed it brilliant? · 3 years, 9 months ago

Yeah, awesome idea.... Complete support of mine. · 3 years, 9 months ago

There is a problem though. Relatively new users will always fall behind. · 3 years, 9 months ago

Then one more criteria can be added based on since when the user is a member of brilliant. · 3 years, 9 months ago

brilliant can normalize the scores using mathematics :P · 3 years, 2 months ago

it is a severe drawback......rightly applicable for me.... · 3 years, 9 months ago

for me too....:( · 3 years, 8 months ago

i agree but why should age be a criteria?there are problem-solvers of all ages on brilliant · 3 years, 9 months ago

Age matters a lot according to me. You cannot compare an 18 year old and a 14 year old as former has a clear advantage over the latter in terms of experience and knowledge. · 3 years, 9 months ago

i get it.thanks! · 3 years, 9 months ago

yes here it matters rightly .... · 3 years, 9 months ago

Age matters slightly, but rankings are more important. A 14 year old prodigy could be higher ranked than a 20 year old student, and that would be fine. I just think that if such a system were in place, it should also take into account when the user joined (because you can only get so many points per week...) · 3 years, 8 months ago

age always mends its way...here see i am almost 19 years old..but as i have finished high school i don't find interest in solving weekend problems...so this shows i lack a little energy to do them and my fondness for math have gone out of my soul ...so the discusser have made it a point to specify age in its place... :P* · 3 years, 9 months ago

Additionally, it could be made optional for users to display their rankings publicly. · 3 years, 8 months ago

cool way yaar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! · 3 years, 4 months ago

I also support this. · 3 years, 8 months ago

I always want to know how I am doing compared to others, especially point wise. I feel that my lifetime points are terrible, but if I see others do terrible I won't feel as terrible. I like it. · 3 years, 8 months ago

an awesome idea indeed............................ · 3 years, 9 months ago
