This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

• Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
• Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
• Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.

I would love to be able to save seats for offline use when on the road w/o data.

Agreed. I would like to use the app when I don't have access to internet, like on flights, etc. I'm trying to get the artificial neural networks package in particular. More linear algebra would be great, btw.

A secret feature of the native apps is that the explorations do mostly work offline... there are some bugs, but it is almost there.

And we agree with you about more linear algebra!

Have you done all the problems here? https://brilliant.org/math/algebra/?subtopic=advanced-equations&chapter=linear-algebra

I'd like to join the request: an option like "Download Course" and instead of fetching it having the whole thing locally for airplanes, metered connections and later usage in general would be, well, brilliant.

Hi @ahmed abdul fatah -- we are making as much of Brilliant offline capable as possible as quickly as we can. Since much of the content is "live" (as @Agnishom Chattopadhyay mentioned) it takes a lot of careful thought.

What are some of your favorite offline capable apps?

Staff - 5 years, 4 months ago

Temple Run!

- 5 years, 4 months ago

Would love it if you could use the courses on flights or underground commutes

There is a basic version of it in the current app now – if you tap into a quiz or chapter in a course, it should work offline.

We're working on a more complete version of offline mode now.

Staff - 1 year, 11 months ago

Offline would be very useful

- 1 year, 5 months ago

Offline for the courses would seriously be amazing.

- 1 year, 5 months ago

We're working on it!

Staff - 1 year, 5 months ago

Please do this feature! Maybe something likes PWA and prefetching the current course content.

- 1 year, 4 months ago

I know it's a weird ask, but can y'all curate a list of "off-line" cv. Keep it to like 1-2GB at most, and when someone wants to download more, they have to manually delete the 1st PSets. Also make it available to certain form-factors. I mean if you are going to use this this app, you're more likely than not a Knowledge Seeker.

What sort of offline content do you want? This is a community: it works with live content.

- 5 years, 4 months ago

i mean the small exercises ,

- 5 years, 4 months ago

We are trying very hard to make these exercises accessible offline.

Staff - 5 years, 4 months ago

ok good luck :) . to make what i said more clear for ex in computer science/data structures/string quiz , this needs internet connection so i can make the quiz . if such quizzes are available offline that would make it easy to do more on the go specially

- 5 years, 4 months ago

Yep :)

Make the courses offline

- 1 year, 5 months ago

We're working on it!

Staff - 1 year, 5 months ago

I think people are asking for the ability to port courses offline only temporarily. A perfect example would be to be able to still make progress on the course you are currently working on while you were on a flight. Then once you were at your destination, you would once again take your progress and link up with the live content and become a part of the community once again. It seems like a limited download of the course content would be a step in the right direction

@Brian Grant we're working on it!

Staff - 1 year, 4 months ago

I second this!!

we are making as much of Brilliant offline capable as possible as quickly as we can

I would love to see some similar behaviour like Coursera has!

- 1 year, 3 months ago

We actually have an offline version currently, which you can see if you're doing a course and turn off the internet on the native apps. We're in the process right now of adding an explicit offline mode.

The download feature is great, but it doesn't work all the time. Also i wonder what the reason for the limit of 6 courses per month is

1. It really should work all the time! Could you write to use from the "contact support" feature in the app with some examples of it not working properly?
2. The 6 courses simultaneously limit is to control piracy of the course content. It is very sad, but such is life.
