# Bug Possibly?

I am not able to tag people when writing notes but can so when commenting. Can the Brilliant staff look into this? Thanks. @Dan Krol, @Sam Solomon

Hi @Sharky Kesa - that is the intended behavior for now. We may change it in the future, but we wanted to start by implementing @mentions only for comments.

Staff - 3 years, 10 months ago

Ok.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

On a related note, it is not possible to tag certain people. Try tagging Nikhil Pandya.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

@Nikhil Pandya @Mursalin Habib Yeah, there are some issues with when you need to type more than a first name to find the person you are looking for.

The way to get around this is to actually omit the space and type straight through from first to last name, unfortunately for Nikhil, you have to type all the way to @nikhilpandy before he is the only person in the list. However, due to context aware searching, if you follow Nikhil or Nikhil is associated with the thing you're commenting on (posted the post or wrote a comment) he should show up towards the top.

Staff - 3 years, 10 months ago

@Nikhil Pandya. Nope, doesn't work.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

You misspelled it.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Edited.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Yup, you're correct. And we can't tag even when posting problems, and that's why I think they've not allowed it. Wouldn't it loo quite awkward if everybody tags their (I know 'their' is wrong English since everyone is singular, but I was confused with him & her, so I chose their instead) problems and notes with all people so that it can get a greater amount of viewers, and consequently, a faster rating. So, in my opinion, we shouldn't be able to tag in notes and problems, simply to maintain the decorum of the site. Wouldn't you get annoyed if everybody tags their questions with your name, just to get it rated faster? @Sharky Kesa

- 3 years, 10 months ago

By the way, 'everybody tags their...' is a perfectly grammatical sentence [although your English teacher may disagree] and has been used in English for a long time. It's also a good way to avoid awkward phrases like 'his or her' etc.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I thought as much. And no, the teacher wouldn't disagree unless they weren't as adept in English as they should be.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

The sad thing is that they aren't

How in the world will you know??

I'll also delete mine till then, but don't you think there should be a 'Gender' option in the account settings. I agree that most people have obvious first names, but then, there are obviously some names which can be used for both. (BTW, you were born in India, right?)

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Yes I was.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

And you weren't probably named in India, since we generally don't see people named 'Sharky' in India.....

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I was named in India, but Sharky is my pseudonym. Internet name. Cybersafety. :D

- 3 years, 10 months ago

And you know that the number of people who know by 'Sharky' is faaaar more than the number of people who know you by your real name..........credits to Brilliant!

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Keeps me more anonymous. Sort of like Robert Saunders (Benjamin Franklin).

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Sorry for not being able to complete the chess match with you, but is there a way by which we can play live chess.......I don't like the 7-day format.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Sure but tomorrow, it's 12:42 AM here. I should be sleeping. Shall we arrange it at 3PM AEST (5AM GMT)?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Gosh!! Sorry, but I'll be at school at that time. How about 11:30 GMT?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

AM or PM? If AM, I can make it. PM, no way, I'll be sleeping in at that time.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

11:30 AM. I need to go........Good Night.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Good night. Game tomorrow.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

So sorry, just came to know that tomorrow I'm going out. I think I'll be back by evening in India. I'll definitely let you know tomorrow.......

- 3 years, 10 months ago

OK.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I'm back @Sharky Kesa .It's 2:49 PM in GMT now, so we can't play today (sorry for that), isn't it you should-be-sleeping time! Will you play tomorrow, anytime you like, just tell me.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

4:00AM GMT is a good time.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Sure, 4:00 AM in GMT, fixed. Now, since I'm new to chess.com, I don't know how to play live chess with specific players. Would be nice if you invite me......1.5 hrs left....

- 3 years, 10 months ago

30 minutes now.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Yup.....20 min now... I've found a relatively easier chess site, which doesn't need even a login. Just open the link understated...

http://multiplayerchess.com/#!/7bWOPWQ. Or I am also green (logged-in) on chess.com....anyone you like....

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I am logged in as well, on live chess. 15|10?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

First get on live chess, then I can challenge you to 15|10.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I'm logged on Live chess, Now you challenge me for "live" chess, you know, I can't find the live chess option when I challenge you....

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Just get on live chess, then I'll challenge you. You just have to accept.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I am on a page "http://www.chess.com/livechess/myhome#". This means I am on live chess, and I see you there........and I can challenge you for days-per-move match but not live chess.....

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Go on Play Live Chess. I can play a game with you because you are on my friends list.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

It has started......!!

- 3 years, 10 months ago

And ended...:(

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Yes. GG.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Reply.......or try the link I gave you.........I think it's also a good site..

- 3 years, 10 months ago

It doesn't work on my computer.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Try the homepage.... http://multiplayerchess.com/

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Doesn't work.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

@Satvik Golechha - You've completed whole of R.DS class 10? Whoa!!!!!!

- 3 years, 10 months ago

No, I'm not gonna solve 30 questions of the same type........but I've solved probably 1 in 6 or so........

- 3 years, 10 months ago

And, do you know calculus? How aboutZeta function then?(How did you solve that q) @Satvik Golechha. Anyway, I still dread the stat part of R.D.S and havent touched it :(. How did you solve that remainder quesiton?- Guess or proper approach?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

@Krishna Ar, I don't even know what calculus is about, although I've heard there are things like differentiation and integration. And I don't know anything such as the Zeta function, although I've seen Sharky use it many a time. That Zeta question was solved because I had the opportunity to make some guesses, and the first guess I made was indeed the correct answer! The remainder question, I must admit, was asked (by me) from a teacher..... :DPP

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Oh...Ok! @Satvik Golechha . You have people to whom you can put your questions, I don't. Anyway, do you wokr(school) on saturdays? How could you have asked the same question without seeing it? intuition:-O? Oh, well, I am sure you would have an idea about how calculus is spelt though! :P :P. And, for once, the grammatical syntax in your last sentence is not correct!. @Sharky Kesa - How did you sharpen your skills in topics like Number theory, Inequalities, Geometry and the like...Please don't say R.D.S/NCERT ( I know you use them) . Thnx!

- 3 years, 10 months ago

@Krishna Ar Nobody will care about her or his grammatical syntax after coming from a grueling journey. And I'll really appreciate your sending questions to me, so that I can forward them to my teachers, and send the answers to you. Yup, I've schools on Saturday.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Oh! Okay! But y'day you bunked right? @Satvik Golechha

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Nah! What makes you think so, BTW? @Krishna Ar

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Because you said you have school on sat ( @Satvik Golechha

- 3 years, 10 months ago

@Krishna Ar Yup, I have school at Saturday, but how does that make you think I bunked it??

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Bunking refers to missing school - doesnt it?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Actually it does not..........Bunking is missing the classes (or whatever) without a certain reason, and missing it when we can attend it........BTW I didn't miss school, I went there after school...

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I went there after school. Where does there reference to?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I live in a township which is 40 km away from a city, namely Kota. 'There' is Kota, where I go once in a week for shopping and all....BTW you said that you visit India in 3 yrs or so.......Where?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Whaaat? You don't live in Kota? Then do you live in Bundi or what?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Patna, Pune, Lucknow and Bangalore. Family relatives live there.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Just out of curiosity, What is the difference you see in India and Australia?

- 3 years, 9 months ago

Population density, cleanliness, economy, education and cricket.

- 3 years, 9 months ago

Loads of time on Brilliant helped a lot. Also, I watched many videos on YouTube after searching up countless subjects.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Oh...But I don't really think videos help in case of Olympiad math,. Do they? And, could you please be more specific ( if you wish to)

- 3 years, 10 months ago

BTW, try my new proof problem. Finn started a solution. Try to finish it.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Sorry, I can't, you know, I'm callow in inequalities. Would you mind telling me the books which you take from India for studying maths.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

R.D. Sharma is a good place to start.

- 3 years, 10 months ago

I done R.D. Sharma of class 9th & 10th. So I should start with 11th now?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Yeah. I finished 9th and 10th last year (a bit slow with the number of questions, I had to give working)
