# Can you outsmart everyone else? Part II

$\color{#D61F06} {\text{This discussion is locked.}}$

If you have any questions about the setup, ask them here.

Final results: Aloysius Ng won!

Summary of rounds:

You can view the past rounds here

How to play:

This game is open to everyone.

You are a producer of liquid gold. Each round, you can decide how many non-negative integer units of liquid gold you want to produce.

To do so, reply to my comment which states which round it is. You may only submit 1 entry each round, and may not edit the entry once you have submitted it.

Any attempt to cheat (deleting / editing / faking / unnecessarily confounding others) will result in immediate and forever disqualification. Tzar Calvin's decisions are final, and you will have no court of appeal.

How to keep score:

You can go into debt to the amount of -$5000. Anyone who crosses that is out of the game. The cost of production is$100 per unit. This cost has to be paid once you place the order, and the amount that you can order is dependent on your cash on hand.
Note that in your first round, your maximum order size is 50.
The Quantity that you produce is denoted as $Q_{you}$, and the Total Quantity of production is $TQ = \sum_{i \, \in \, Brilliant} Q_i$.
The price that a unit of liquid gold sells for is $P = \max ( 1000 - TQ , 0 )$.
At the end of the round, you will be credited with $Q_{you} \times P$. Note that it is possible to lose money from your actions in a round.

The winner is the person with the most money at the end of all the rounds.

When to play:

The rounds will open very close to (figure out your time zone):

1. Sunday April 17th at 8:00 AM PST
2. Sunday April 17th at 8:30 AM PST
3. Sunday April 17th at 9:00 AM PST
4. Depends, will likely continue for a while but with shortened rounds if there's interest.

When the round is open, you can submit your entry at any point in time. Of course, the longer you wait, the more certainty you get from the actions of others, since they cannot change their declared production values. However, the round will be closed (by locking of this note) at an undisclosed point in time, and you will not be able to submit your production for that round.

Note: Each round will last at least 5 mins, and at most 20 mins. I do not know the probability distribution of the closing time, but you can be certain that it is not uniform.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

• Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
• Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
• Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
• Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.
