# Feedback on Challenge Master Note to solutions

For the past few months, we've been adding "Challenge Master Notes" to several of the solutions, especially those in the popular problems. I would like to ask for your feedback on these, so that we can improve the experience for you.

1. Do you like to see the Challenge Master note?
2. Do the notes encourage you to interact in the solution discussions?
3. There are several types of notes. Broadly speaking, they are A) point out errors/issues in the solution, B) suggest alternative methods (often as a hint), C) talk about the motivation of the problem/solution, D) generalize the problem. Are there any types of notes that you want to see more of?
4. Are there any types of notes that you do not want to see?
5. What aspects do you not like? How would you suggest for us to improve on it?
6. Should we continue adding these notes?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

• Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
• Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
• Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.

Yes the Challenge Master note are very useful, and they encourage the one who added the solution, for me I'd like to see type A and B, but all of them are good,I think you may add a notification in the profile when challenge master note is added better than email it ( i didn't received any email even there is sometimes when the challenge master note my solution) and yes you should keep adding those notes

2. Regarding email, can you check if you're getting other email from us? You should see something like this:

Sorry Mr @Calvin Lin i checked all my messages and there is no one like this , even that there are some of my solutions that the challenge master note them

I completely agree with you. All kinds of CM notes are useful. I hope CM adds notes to as many genuine solutions as possible.

Personally I see the notes should be some kind of "review" of the solution. A-type notes and C-type notes (that are about motivation to solution) are okay; the rest are better if CM comments on the solution instead, as they aren't really related to the solution.

- 5 years, 6 months ago

Well, I think there should be B-type and D-type notes as well.

- 5 years, 6 months ago

As I said, B-type and D-type notes should go to comments, not as notes. In fact, if it's possible to comment on a problem instead of only solutions, D-type notes should go to a problem's comments, not a solution's comments.

To clarify, you think it is not sufficient to reply in the comments, and there should be a separate section for replying?

Staff - 5 years, 6 months ago

sir, we cannot tag the challenge master while commenting. And we also don't know which challenge master has posted the note.

- 5 years, 6 months ago

Yes, I find them very helpful after posting a solution. I would like to be able to reply to the challenge master note.

Thanks.

You can reply to the challenge master note in the comments and @mention me.
