Happy New Year 2014!

Happy New Year to the the whole Brilliant community. Well, I heard about this website from my friends who had in turn heard it from a person working in Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) who had come to our school regarding an orientation programme. The reason I didn't hear it directly from him was because I was absent from that day. ost of my friends told me that the sample questions were highly difficult and hence they didn't become members but I didn't lose heart and registered for it. At that time I was not interested in Maths and the first week on Brilliant was a disaster. But after that a burning passion for Maths was generated within me which has been intensifying. I would like to thank Brilliant for making the year 2013 highly eventful by introducing me to the new dimensions of Mathematics and Physics. I would like to wish a highly fruitful and succesful new year to ll the staff and my friends on Brilliant. A special new year to Calvin Sir and David Sir for their future endeavours and may Brilliant continue forever gaining from strength to strength. I also wish All The Best\text{All The Best} to those members appearing in Mathematical Olympiads. Finallly let us welcome the New Year 2014 with open arms.May this year bring with itself the fragrance of lavender, sweetness of rose and the uniqueness of orchids. Wishing everyone a very happy new year. May God bless everyone with success.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.
