This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

• Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
• Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
• Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
• Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

I would have to say the Art of Problem Solving books from Zeitz are one of the best. Volume 1 is good enough for RMO. Don't worry too much, you'll do well.

Yep, as other have commented that you can definitely find great resources over the internet (books and pdf's), that's definitely great. Even Brilliant is one of the top notch resources and if you are regularly solving problems from Brilliant, you will definitely be able to qualify most of the math olympiads (including RMO) (perhaps that worked with me).

In particular I would like to recommend, to read books by Titu Andresscu. They will definitely build up your olympiad skills and you'll also learn some new tricks which could help you a lot in those olympiads.

Anyways, an alternate resource is to join WOOT (World Online Olympiad Training), if you want some real top notch training. Also, I am not very much confirm about WOOT's training because I haven't joined it. I am only recommending it to you on basis of what its members told me. I have heard much appreciation about it.

Btw I am a Maths Student so I'm of no use as far as Bio is concerned . For Geometry , I used to solve previous year IMO problems only and Algebra , hmm the only book that I have ever used is Higher Algebra by Hall and Knight .

I believe you won't have any problem in Chemistry (Chem is quite easy), just the Resonance RP will suffice and as for Physics , Halliday Resnick (Theory) and DC Pandey series for problem solving .

P.S. These are the books that I have used in the past , I'm not saying that these are the best ones out there which will suffice for your prep .

Could you suggest for NSEJS

Are you a RMO qualifier

- 5 years, 6 months ago

NSEJS-Keep your concepts clear about 10 and 11 physics and chemistry and you would require a lot of knowledge in biology

In RMO i was only able to solve one question but two of my friends did qualify

- 5 years, 6 months ago

I am in class 8th. Will be going to class 9th in 2015-2016. Yes will give SMTE this year. Any tips ?

BTW are you talking about SMTE held by DPS society.

P.S. Turned 14 years old 4 days before.

Which school you study in?

- 5 years, 6 months ago

Yes I'm talking about Inter DPS SMTE

I myself qualified it.

The BEST TIP FOR SMTE : Practice so much that you can solve problems in your mind because YOU WILL NOT GET MUCH TIME

And keep your concepts clear.

I'm from DPS Bhilai
