This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Are you interested in hosting an IBOO contest? If you are, I am willing to write questions for it.

We will start either an IBOO or an IOOI some time before Summer 2014, but we are not sure which it will be. Thanks for your interest! Stay tuned. :)

Fantastic, thanks. Contact me if you need some writers. Also, I am in contact with many who are more qualified than I am to write questions for bio and chem, so let me know if I can help in any way.

If you don't need help, I'll be glad to participate in IBOO whenever it happens!

@Matt Kempster Thanks a lot for lending us a hand! IChOO Problem-Writers are welcome. If you want to write problems for IChOO, send us an e-Mail with your experience and a few problems you have written (chemistry). If you know others who may be interested, please tell them to do so! Thanks again.

@Ahaan Rungta Alright. I do not really do chemistry, but I do know IChO medalist(s), so I'll let them know. I'm a bio guy.

Thanks.

@Matt Kempster IChO medalists; nice! We have one IChO medalist (USA, Gold) in our staff. Adding more to the crew would be nice. :)

@Ahaan Rungta Yeah, I know someone else on the USA team who went to my high school. I'll talk to him and see if he's interested.
