Dude; i've preparing for jee since 9th in fiitjee; and i'm riting jee this yr. First of all be thorough in these topics by end of first year. Maths - trigonometry, Diff calculus. Physics - mechanics (heat nd waves are not difficult and they r not dealt in much depth for jee) Chemistry - This is stupid stuff, all you do is mug up stuff(or "remember" it as some people say). But learn chemical bonding, ionic equilibrium, and 1st r org(2nd yr org is very imp and 1st yr org is super important for it). Regarding books, Maths - arihant series, theory was taught to us in class very well. Physics - I prepared/completed the complete syllabus in 10th for jee on my own - so if u r studying on your own, study these - i followed (resnick, haliday, walker) & (hc verma); problems can be done from dc pandey and some higher level from irodov(send me ur mail id; i'll send u the problem list in irodov which are useful for iit). If u r a physics geek then i'll suggest u some more difficult books. Chem - JD lee(inorg theory), Solomon(org theory) Himanshu Pandey & MS Chauhan(org problems) , Avasthi/Jaiswal(Physical and inorganic problems), Bahadur(for physical theory) And don't forget to purchase some book which gives you past 34yr iit questions. If you need anymore advice then tell me.

How much time will we need for chemistry if we read chemistry continuously ?

- 3 years, 10 months ago

Dude, that depends on how good u r at the subject... Especially in mugging up..... U see, my final result in Advanced went bad because of inorganic chemistry (from iit delhi i came to iit guwahati - in engineering physics) Study as much inorganic as possible... Also at the same time don't neglect organic, physical or other subjects (maths and physics)... You please message me on Facebook, if you need any more advice (im not really logging into brilliant nowadays) You can also mail me on chandramouli.chowdhury@gmail.com Better not post questions in comments here, as many brilllianties who are iitians now may not be logging in regularly

Oh , Hi,,,,, Me too will be in 11 nxt year,,What I learnt in 10th is that there is no limit to knowledge.. My year started like every ordinary year,,The same pattern that goes on every year,, But later, around november, I got a bit informed about olympiad maths,,, Now that was pretty new for me,,,,So I started to learn some things, But I am too astonished the way I finished my academic year,, I was not too good at school,, But my dedication to olympiad maths gave me a great position, Today I have a page on fb with awersome likes,, And I feel great now,, My advice,, Start rightaway now about 11th, Revise 10th and 9th great questions,, It will be helpful for KVPY(For such good ques use "GK Publications IIT preparation book for 9th and 10th"" And most importantly, Enjoy learning

OK. I don't know what the best and more experienced students who are giving Jee this year are gonna say but here's my experience:

Mistakes: When I finished class 10, no one around me told me to start the JEE prep. All they said was, "Concentrate on the holy grail of Indian students- a 90+ percentage in class 12". I grazed on for three months like that. No one told me about books like books on Irodov's classic physics probs, or Resnick-Halliday, etc. They wanted me to concentrate on boards. So, I never received any help from real life teachers around me. I somehow managed to enroll at FIITJEE for distance course but that didn't work out for me either(NO, I'M NOT SAYING FIITJEE ISN'T GOOD. THY'RE THE BEST. THEIR QUESTION MAKE YOU PONDER AND THINK). And in the beginning of my 12 standard, I gave up all hopes about IITs or IIScs.

So, what I found was from being a science lover, I was slowly beginning to get irritated by just the mention of physics or chemistry.

My sincere advice: If you have good seniors, consult them. Ask them about what books they consulted, etc. And since many great students are on Brilliant, I'm sure you'll receive a ton of good tips and advice. More importantly, don't get frustrated if you're finding yourself unable to cope up. Just keep trying ^^

All the best!

That i am done with! its good book! i am studying in fiitjee from class 9th

Its all stupid, wat it means is u have to study hard throughout the yr for iit advanced and also study like anything for boards or that's what we r doin (in fiitjee). It only adds an additional pressure on you; cause you have to get a very good score in boards.

- 4 years, 7 months ago

I am also in FIITJEE Pinnacle.

What I was asking was about new paper pattern as they are thinking of combining Mains and Advanced into one and it will be effective from my year.

Oh sorry, but i don't knw abt it. u see i'm riting dis yr after 2 months. If i get to knw i'll tell you. All the best :)
