I suggest instead of using lifetime points to break a tie in the leaderboard, we should use rating to break ties. The reason is that people can gain points by just doing the Practice section and can gain a lot of points. For example, one can solve 60x4x4 = 960 problems (equivalent to 4800 points.) in an hour. Also, if someone joins Brilliant lately, he will not have many lifetime points. So, he will not have a chance to get into the leaderboard even he solved all the problems.

I offer that it should be rank by lifetime points of latest 4 weeks (including the points from votes and others).
