Money?

It's said on the FAQ that Brilliant will plan to make money by having some features cost money on the website. I was just wondering whether plans are in place for this or is the Brilliant team still brainstorming?

Hey Tanishq, no plans for this are in place. We feel that there is a great deal of improvement to be made in the problem solving and community experience, and for now we're only focused on creating an excellent website.

I just hope that Brilliant will not become P2W (pay to win, like LoL (League of Legends)). In LoL, either you play (A LOT) or you pay (lame) to get champions and runes. In the context of Brilliant, rewards equate to gaining levels and access to nice problems. The more brilliant people deserve more rewards. Money does not make one brilliant.

Yes, I share the same fears. I think the best way for Brilliant to earn money would be to simply put up ads on the website. They don't trouble people too much (considering there are tons of them all over the place in sites like Yahoo Answers). Perhaps Brilliant could start selling books of its own to make money? My only hope is that all services provided by Brilliant continue to be free.
