This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

@Vinayak Srivastava here is a special folder link for you, and anybody who wants it. I have added some books which are interesting and explain the concepts very well along with some problem-solving tricks. It contains Physics, Maths and Chemistry books. I have a lot more books, let me know if you want. Others can find it useful too, I have added some of my university books also

What? 1.9 GB in zip? How do I convert it? lol

Download the zip, and then you will see the folders in the zip. You can use apps like WinRAR to extract it.

@Siddharth Chakravarty, while opening the link, my name appears in the folder name, even though the folder is yours. Have you only named it like that, or it happens with everyone? I am using Drive for first time, so I am asking, as I want to know more about Drive. Also, can you tell which software I can use to extract as a zip and download? And If you have named it mine, please remove it, I am not the author of the books, and I haven't worked as hard as you to collect the books, as I don't like seeing my name in something I haven't done, you should write your name instead, as you have done the F⋅S. ⋅⋅⌣

Lol.The name appears on my side also .extract with zip
Log in to reply
No, I named the drive after your name because I have many folders like that, so I put the name of the person for whom I had curated the folder for, just to remember while searching up. I had to also put up your middle name because there are already 2 Vinayak Srivastava's in my previous folders. You can download just by pressing the download button there in Google drive itself, and to extract files you can search Winrar on the web, download it and use it to extract the zip file.

Nice, but easy. Pure logic is enough to solve it. Though I must point out @Kriti Kamal, that leaves are not exactly green, rather they appear green due to the green pigment chlorophyll present in the chloroplasts. This is because leaves can be other colors as well. These kind of leaves just have chlorophyll in minority compared to the other colored pigments. Though this doesn't change the answer.
if it does not changes the answer, then i will not argue with you。
@Kriti Kamal
It doesn't change the answer, but it deems your solution to be partially wrong. This is not an argument. Stating facts that are only partially right is a flaw in the solution, so your solution is imperfect, but you can change it, if you wish to, which in my opinion you should, but then again, that's my opinion.Log in to reply

I also have 1 doubt in Vertical Circular Motion. Any help will be highly appreciated.
If in a vertical circle, the velocity at lowest point is 2gR [R is radius of circle] then after reaching the horizontal point, what will happen to the particle? Will it continue in the semi-circular arc, will it fall freely in straight line, or fall like a projectile?
Look the velocity at any height h from the lowest point is u2−2gh where u is the velocity at the lowest point. So at the horizontal point, it is at a height h=R from the lowest point and the initial velocity is 2gR as per you, so the velocity at the horizontal point should come out to be 0, which means the particle is at rest there but still gravity would act on it, and it will again fall down, and then go on the opposite side, come back down, and so on, and thus the system becomes a pendulum.

Hey @Vinayak Srivastava, I did not give IOQM this time because of my jee prep., is it better to give it in class 12, or should I leave it??
Hey! I don't think I am the best person to answer this, I think you should ask others more experienced and then decide. Sorry. I am mentioning few people whose opinion may help you: @Zakir Husain, @Aryan Sanghi, @Siddharth Chakravarty, @Mahdi Raza

In my opinion, it's always a good idea to give any exam. No matter what the result is, or how much you were prepared for, it will give you a unique experience and teach you something. Now if someone is not at all interested in Biology or Physics, then it is obviously a futile thought to give or even prepare for its respective exam. But if you are really interested in mathematics, then sure, go ahead. I would! For preparation, decide your priorities first. Is JEE prep more important or PRMO? it's most probably JEE that's important. Then preparing for PRMO rigorously is not a good idea. You can still search for problems occasionally or solve some problems every night. Anyways, I would suggest you give the exam! Hope this helps.

@Dibyojyoti Bhattacharjee You are eligible for it until Your age ≤19years
Log in to reply
Hi. IOQM is suitable to give only till class 11th, as it's syllabus is quite different from JEE syllabus and so you have to divert your attention to IOQM which might be bad for JEE. Also, I feel it's never worthy to give exams without preparation as it becomes quite a demotivation if we don't do good, which is bad at a crucial time of JEE. So, in my opinion, I think you might leave it. :)
But, if you have never appeared in IOQM/PRMO, then I'll say it's a worthy experience to give and prepare for it. But if you want to give, don't do too much preparation as it will affect JEE and also don't do zero preparation as demotivation is quite bad. I have experienced demotivation in 9th. :)
