  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Thanks, Azhaghu! Your prediction came true, (more or less), so apparently you do have the ability of precognition. :)

@Brian Charlesworth ;) Told you !

Btw the result would have been fair had there been a better voting system (no offense to Parth) . With too many people posting the same names again(mostly those names were yours and Chew sir's :P ) .

I did some quick counting myself , by using the following scoring scheme : 1 Upvote : 1 point

1 Downvote: -1 point

What I did was I counted ALL the votes for you and Chew sir and subtracted the downvotes .It was only fair that I proceeded that way . Each person's votes will be counted this way .(I wonder how Parth calculated it and got joint winners .)

In the end , the Top two were :

Brian Charlesworth : 50 points . Chew Seong Chong : 45 points .

I'm hoping that the next Contest that comes along might use a rigorous marking scheme and a nice way to keep of redundancy of votes .

@A Former Brilliant Member I guess Parth just considered the "primary" nominations, ignored the downvotes, (I'm curious about who downvoted me, but no matter), and assumed that those who made duplicate nominations also upvoted the primary nominations. That seems reasonable, but on the other hand, so does your more involved method. Regardless, I'm just appreciative of the recognition. :)
