This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

• Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
• Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
• Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.

eh, i don't know where else to put this, but @Mursalin Habib what's the trick to winning? Besides staying glued to Zi Song Yeoh's feed 24/7. You are at the top with a lead of more than 20 points.

Understanding the game, employing some psychological tactics and dumb luck.

You have to understand the game. If you submit early, you get bonuses. And the bonuses are very important, specially if the interval of selection is short. So, submit early.

Understanding human psychology can also help you here big time. I didn't care about the game that much in the first two rounds. But after that, I tried to pick numbers that the least number of people would pick. Obviously this is not full-proof. But when people see a lot of comments, they don't usually go through all of them; they go with their gut [At least I think, this is what they do. Otherwise I'm screwed!]. So pick a number that wouldn't be the first number that pops to people's mind. Resharing the note at a convenient time can also be helpful [I'm also thinking about how upvoting certain posts can boost my chances. Let's see where that goes].

Finally, the most important thing of all: dumb luck. None of the things I mentioned would work if luck isn't on your side. I shouldn't have a lead of that much. The reason I do is because luckily, Aditya Raut forgot to submit in round 4.

So there you have it! That's my strategy, pretty boring, isn't it? Maybe someone else has a cooler strategy and I'd love to know about it.
