This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

• Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
• Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
• Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.

You spelt his name wrong in the title. I had to decline my offer to be moderator because I had too much schoolwork.

Yeah! And congon for your top 0.01%-ile BTW d'you know that 99.99% is the best percentile one can achieve. It is calculated such that no one gets 100%-ile. (at least in India)

there is a first thing for everything ..Maybe you can accomplish that

oh !! I don't know how to correct it

Haha, that means I'm the youngest moderator. :D

I would be the youngest if I accepted. :(

Exactly. :D

Finn, I think I'm younger than you. :) (I'm not actually 13 yet)

- 5 years, 12 months ago

Darn it.

- 5 years, 12 months ago

I would still be youngest. By 1 week. BTW, how many did you get wrong in Australian Mathematics Competition? I am getting a medal.. You can see my real name on the website (The ultimate prize from me to any Brilliantian. You may determine how I made my pseudonym.).

- 5 years, 11 months ago

I like your last name dude. :D

- 5 years, 11 months ago

Why? Because of its uniqueness?

- 5 years, 11 months ago

Yes. It sounds a bit like a Japanese last name. :P

- 5 years, 11 months ago

Dude, it's completely Hindi, maybe even Sanskrit! First part means Saffron, the spice, and second part means merchant.

- 5 years, 11 months ago

Mhmm. I cook with saffron...

- 5 years, 11 months ago

Only a flake or 2 for the entire dish.

- 5 years, 11 months ago

Yes.

- 5 years, 11 months ago

But the cost?! Unbelievable! :O

- 5 years, 11 months ago

- 5 years, 11 months ago

I'm just wondering... Since we both live in high-ranked first world countries, how's life there? I'd like to compare it to Australia.

- 5 years, 11 months ago

Now I corrected it!!

- 5 years, 9 months ago

But Stavik was starting to warm up. :P

- 5 years, 9 months ago

Congrats :* btw Let the topic be Stavik...Sounds like a Russian Mathematician :P

Thanks... :D Russian?!

yea ..Russian ..Watch movies :P

Thanks. I also 'lol'ed at it!!

Congrats!

Same ter ya'.

Congrats Satvik! I believe you will do well.

I haven't yet uploaded them. But they are like:- (I'm warning you before hand, they're full CRAP)

Value Plugging Theorem:- Plug some simple values in the expressions to give the answer.

Draw Diagram Theorem:- Draw a to-scale diagram of the question and answer by measurements.

These two techniques help a LOT to raise your score in MCQ's.

I've used the first one loads and loads of times such that it became second nature. Even yesterday, In a math quiz- I solved a really complex functions problem in seconds by VP theorem :P

Isn't it better to call it a technique rather than a theorem?

Yes. A theorem is a set law, where the above mentioned things are techniques.

I prefer the draw diagram theorem

I have use them a lot in NTSE kinda exams!! I still use 1st one but I dont get time enough to use 2nd one!!

- 5 years, 10 months ago

good

- 5 years, 12 months ago

Hii Hume tho mention karta

Yaar!!!!!!!!!! Its the achievement of Satvik so let him enjoy!!!!
