If ABCDABCD is a square with side 18 cm18\text{ cm} and E,F,G,HE, F, G, H are the midpoints of AB,BC,CD,DAAB, BC, CD, DA repectively, then join AA to GG and FF, BB to GG and HH, CC to HH and EE, DD to EE and FF. An octagon is formed from the intersection of these lines, then the area of the octagon (the shaded region in the figure) is
