Qualitative analysis of Nitrogen is done by making first Lassinge extract and then adding Fe in Conc. Sulphuric acid if that particular organic compound contain nitrogen(and not S) then solution turn purrsian blue.For Quantitative analysis Kjeldahl method is used . First Sulphuric acid is added to organic compound which will form ammonium sulphate. NaOH is further added to ammonium sulphate which gives ammonia ,water and sodium sulphate as a product .The liberated ammonia gas is absorbed in an excess of standard solution of sulphuric acid.The amount of ammonia produced is determined by estimating the amount of sulphuric acid consumed.
