So that's how small drops evaporate!

Assume that a drop of liquid evaporates by a decrease in its surface energy so that its temperature remains unchanged. What should be the maximum radius of the drop for this to be possible?

Notations:

  • \(T\) is the surface tension.

  • \(\rho\) is the density of the liquid.

  • \(L\) is its latent heat of vaporization.
