Sea snails live in the bottom of the ocean, attached to the ground with their 'sticky leg'. Their shape can be approximated to be a hemisphere.

If a snail of radius $$3~\mbox{cm}$$ is attached to the ground in a $$3~\mbox{m}$$ deep sea, what is the magnitude of the vertical force in N with which the water presses on it?

Details and assumptions

• The density of water is $$1000~\mbox{kg/m}^3$$.
• There's a clever (and easier) way to do this, and there's a hard way.
• The acceleration of gravity is $$-9.8~m/s^2$$.
