Find the pH of a \(0.1 \text{ M}\) solution of sodium acetate, to the nearest hundredth.

Details and Assumptions:

  • For acetic acid, \(K_a = 1.77 \times 10^{-5}\)
  • For water, \(K_w = 10^{-14}.\)
  • The only chemicals present in the solution are water and sodium acetate.
  • Of course, you may use a calculator at any time.
