Choosing not to level up

I have been at level three in physics for some weeks now and although I find the problems to be quite difficult I usually manage to solve most of them within the time limit. However I can see in my profile that I will be leveling up to level four from the coming week and I wouldn't want that.Level four problems require advanced math and physics topics (correct me if I'm wrong I had been at level four for a couple of weeks) that I haven't been taught yet.I think that this discussion has been made again but I would like to suggest either doing some changes on the leveling up system or letting us choose not to level up if we want, since solving such problems doesn't mean we find them easy.

discussions@brilliant.org Just email the staff and tell them you are not satisfied with your current level and want to be levelled down, do it fast or tomorrow you might not get the desired level. Regards. Aditya Parson · 4 years ago

@Aditya Parson I think I might stay at level 4 for a week or two just to test myself.I just wanted to recommend giving us an option of leveling down if we want to.That would be better than emailing them every time we are not satisfied with our level (what if I level up again next week?).It might seem strange that I want to level down but I think that is what would help me become better right now and it could also be useful to other people. Thanks for the answer! @Avraam Aneleitos We are beginning to receive feedback that some students would appreciate that, as they feel sufficiently challenged and want to ensure that they have a firm grounding before attempting harder problems. As Aditya mentioned, we are looking at adding a feature that will allow you to decide if you want to accept the promotion, or even to lower your own level.

In any case, feel free to send us an email if you would like to be adjusted down. Based on your comment, I will not take any action right now. Calvin Lin Staff · 4 years ago

@Calvin Lin It is a good idea, but I feel that some people would abuse it. One could lie or purposefully answer problems incorrectly to go down to an easier level. There they could get all problems right and abuse the privilege, gaining unfair points. Justin Wong · 4 years ago

@Calvin Lin Well, that looks quite positive!Yes I will try this level for some time and I will let you know if I need to be levelled down. Thanks for the attention! Avraam Aneleitos · 4 years ago

@Calvin Lin sir i was promoted to lvl 4 and in the previous week i did 7 problems right and this week till now 6 so , i think i should be promoted to lvl 5 as i did 13 out of 16 in consecutive weeks Superman Son · 4 years ago

@Superman Son 13/16 is not enough to be promoted into Level 5. Note further that you need to spend 2 weeks doing problems in Level 4, as we do not take your performance in Level 3 to determine promotion into Level 5. Calvin Lin Staff · 4 years ago

@Avraam Aneleitos I got myself levelled down in all the subjects, we are on the same boat. And brilliant staff is working for the feature you just talked about, but at the moment you have to contact them and they can manually level you down. Aditya Parson · 4 years ago
