Also, I typed in said answer twice and rather than saying you've already tried this value it gave it 'wrong' to me.

The system only prevents against you entering the same answer twice consecutively to guard against people hitting the "Submit" button twice before the page reloads and having that count as 2 attempts when it clearly should have just been 1.

If you answer 5 then 10, it will let you answer 5 as your 3rd attempt, but not 10.

We perform a check only against the very last answer that you submitted. This would allow you to type in answers of 2, 1, 2, despite us already alerting you to the wrong answers that you have tried.

Can you provide us with a breakdown of what exactly happened?

What I believe happened, is that you had multiple tabs of problems open. You correctly solved another question, which caused your points to increase. On the page of this problem, your points hasn't updated yet, and it will do so after you submitted an attempt. Thus, even though you submitted a wrong attempt, your points seem to have increased.
