making diagrams.

Sometimes, there is great need of diagrams while submitting solutions, especially in physics. I wanted to ask how people draw flawless diagrams, i couldn't do that at least in MS paint.

You can use the Asymptote language (there's an article on the AoPS wiki) to make the diagram, then use TeXeR (also on AoPS) to get the image. Then you could take a screenshot and post it to the site via imgur, photobucket, etc. Sorry, this really long way is the only way I know. Michael Tang · 3 years, 8 months ago

Well geometry diagrams can be be just drawn using Geogebra. I then upload the image using TinyPic. Hope it helps a teeny tiny bit. Yong See Foo · 3 years, 8 months ago

I use a program called "Ipe" which is here - ipe7.sourceforge.net This uses Latex typesetting (which deserves a post on its own) so you'll need something like MikTex. I then convert the files into .emf files (I wrote a simple .bat file that does this fast) Then the .emf files get converted into .svg file (by a .bat file again), a vector based image that can be used in many programs including Word. It's very lengthy, but I didn't want to do much programming in the beginning, so I used Ipe and adjusted my needs. Victor Phan · 3 years, 8 months ago
