Question on Ratings

Hello, and kudos to the Brilliant staff for the new ratings system. I think an ELO system like this one fits the purposes of the site.

I noticed that every time I view a problem on Brilliant, my rating drops a few points even if I did not enter an answer. However, a print feature is available and would avoid such deductions. Wouldn't it be unfair for those who do not have access to printers? (Users may just copy the problems by hand most of the time, of course, but still...)

In order to print the problem you must view it in the first place, at which point your rating will drop slightly.

I'm not sure how people with printers would have an advantage. Maybe there is a scenario that I'm overlooking?

Saw this in the discussion on the new ratings system, perhaps I should have commented there instead. :) Anyway, instead of viewing the problems repeatedly (which would result in multiple small deductions), users could simply print the problems and go back to the site once they have the answer. But as I said before, in most cases copying the problem by hand should be enough (works for me when my Internet connection is down).

I see the confusion now! Your rating is reduced only the first time you view the problem. We will try to make this more clear around the site.

@Silas Hundt I see. Thanks for the clarification and more power to Brilliant! :)
