Seif Wanly’s 109th Birthday

Seif Wanly was an Egyptian painter, born Mohammed Seif al-Din Wanly into an aristocratic family of Turkish origin in Alexandria, Egypt, who introduced modern art to Egypt after studying at the studio of the Italian artist Otorino Becchi.

Google celebrates on Tuesday what would have been Seif Wanly's 109th birthday with one of his artworks, 'Untitled,' painted around 1950.

Fun Fact: The painting was auctioned by Christie's in 2013, within Modern and Contemporary Arab and Turkish Art, with an estimate prize of USD 12,000-18,000.
