I am preparing a project on Unity but I hardly know anything about C# programming language. Do you know how to programme in C#? Or how to include JPG. files as sprites? Please help!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Jeff Giff - If you want to include images, go to your folder and take your image and move it into the Assets folder of the game file, then go to unity and create an empty object in hierarchy, then drag and drop your image under it :)

Percy, how about designing an outline for sprites? So there isn’t a white area surrounding? :)

@Percy Jackson He asks if you if it is better to put a white border on his sprites or not

From my experience, I would rather not

@Frisk Dreemurr White borders are annoying, as when your sprite is on a background or has higher layer than another sprite, the border is seen and it is awfully annoying @Jeff Giff @Hamza Anushath

@Frisk Dreemurr Precisely, but how oh how do erase that d*rn white border? Always gives me a headache :P

@Jeff Giff go to photoscissors.com and edit your photos in any way you want, including chopping off the white borders :)

@Jeff Giff - If you want a sprite to have only one image you can add one, if you want to create a stickman ragdoll, you can add limb images, head image and then add hinge joints components to all of them :)

I have never been using Unity (I know C#). As far as I see there are tons on tutorials in the web. Are you following any? Being suck is a completely natural state when dealing with something new. It is not very pleasant, but it is one of the most efficient ways to learn new stuff. Good luck with your project.

I know python and some unity but not C#, there are many tutorials for unity on the internet after all if want to see them

Sahil Goyat - 3 weeks ago

But I thought the programming language of Unity is C#? Or can I use C and Python to code on Unity as well? :)

Jeff Giff - 3 weeks ago

@Jeff Giff there are third part interpreters that can enable python in unity like unipython.

Sahil Goyat - 3 weeks ago

@Sahil Goyat Oh! Thanks for telling me! :)

@Jeff Giff - I've seen Unity Programming as one of @Hamza Anushath's interests, why don't you ask her, and also, you can use Javascript programming in Unity, and I know Javascript, so I can help you there
