# Why is Brilliant sunsetting the community page?

This basically removes all interaction between community members. How can people learn better if they have no interaction with others? Brilliant's courses are great and understandable, but sometimes we want to dive deeper into a concept by discussing it with the community. This decision they've made eliminates that aspect of Brilliant that so many of us have loved: the easily accessible discussion with experts and amateurs alike. Younger people using Brilliant who have a hard time understanding even the explanations to problems will be put off by this. Also, ending community solutions for the daily puzzles will make them harder to understand. Often the Brilliant staff solution is unintelligible without puzzling it out for 10 minutes, while a community solution shows an elegant animation or picture, getting to the heart of the problem without the advanced algebraic techniques. Brilliant has mentioned that they will most likely add community features back in the coming years. While I wish they hadn't gotten rid of them in the first place, I am glad to see they understand the value of open community discussion. Make it quick, Brilliant, make it quick.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

• Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
• Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
• Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.

@Jason Gomez I don't know how Brilliant will get profit by sunsetting community.?

- 1 week, 2 days ago

I believe they think that improving their courses by focusing on them to the exclusion of everything else will bring in more income. To me, this reasoning seems erroneous. I will most likely start using Brilliant even less than I do now, and I'm sure many people will do the same.

Just commenting because of this. I don't have anything to write.

So is this "it"? I thought the community was closing down in July. Sorry to hijack your post but there seems to be nowhere else to write.

They might start the community back again if they see they’re losing users, but maybe by then it will too late.?, or maybe they won’t lose many users

@Jason Gomez I am damn sure .
They will lose a hell lot of followers.

Brilliant is a very good website and I would normally wish the best for it, not in this case though, I just hope they reconsider getting the community back soon after July 2
