Koji is Brilliant's personal tutor, built directly into courses. Premium subscribers have full, unlimited access to Koji. Learn more → Is there a free trial? The annual plan is paid once per year at a lower effective monthly rate — the best value if you're committing to learning long-term. The monthly plan is more flexible, with no annual commitment. Both include the same Premium features. What can I access for free? Brilliant has a free tier with access to lessons and a limited Koji preview. What's the difference between free and Premium?

The biggest difference between Brilliant Free and Premium is access to Koji — Brilliant's personal tutor. Free gives you core lessons with daily limits; Premium removes all limits and gives you full access to Koji. The biggest difference: Koji The most meaningful thing Premium unlocks is full access to Koji, Brilliant's personal tutor. Koji is available inside courses to help you understand problems, get unstuck, and deepen your intuition — working with you one-on-one the way a personal tutor would. Free users get a limited preview of Koji — once that's used up, upgrading to Premium gives full access. Premium subscribers have full, unlimited access to Koji. Quick comparison With Brilliant Free: Limited to 2 keys per day, which unlock 2 lessons or practice sets Must work through courses sequentially — no skipping ahead See occasional ads between lessons Limited Koji preview — once used up, upgrade to Premium for full access With Brilliant Premium: Full, unlimited access to Koji, your personal tutor Unlimited access to all lessons and practice sets — no keys required Jump to any lesson in any course — learn in whatever order works for you Ad-free experience across web and mobile What you can access with free vs. Premium Both free and Premium users can: Learn from thousands of interactive lessons Solve hands-on problems Track progress with streaks and XP Compete in Leagues Use Brilliant on web, iOS, and Android Daily learning limits: The key system Free: You receive 2 keys per day, and each key unlocks one lesson or one practice set. Keys reset at midnight in your time zone. Once you've used both keys, you'll need to wait until the next day to continue. Premium: No keys, no limits. Learn as much as you want, whenever you want. Course navigation Free: You must work through each course sequentially. You can't skip ahead to specific topics. Premium: Jump directly to any lesson in any course — useful when you want to focus on specific topics or refresh particular concepts. Ad experience Free: Occasional ads between lessons. Premium: Completely ad-free across all platforms. Why upgrade to Premium? The core reason to upgrade is Koji. Having a personal tutor available every time you get stuck — one that knows exactly what you're working on and guides your thinking rather than just giving you the answer — is a fundamentally different learning experience. Beyond Koji, Premium removes all limits: no daily caps, no course restrictions, no ads. Ready to upgrade? Visit our Premium page to see plans and pricing.
